Fake divorce lawyer gets 15 years

by Lee Rosen on December 1, 2008

The Zonie Report reports that Gary Karmin, 57, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for bilking thousands of dollars from unsuspecting Arizonians seeking divorces.

Karpin was disbarred in Vermont in 1992 and subsequently opened a practice in Arizona called “Divorce with Dignity” and posed as a lawyer. One client paid Karpin nearly $90,000.

A civil action has also been filed against Karpin seeking a return of fees.
