Has the image you’re looking at been photoshopped? Has someone modified it using image editing software?
You can run an image through the processor at ErrorLevelAnalysis.com and find out. Error level analysis shows differing error levels in an image. When you place your cursor over the image after processing, you see the error levels, and the alterations jump out at you.
The Image Error Level Analyser has an example of a photo that has clearly been edited. You can easily run the analysis on your own images by pointing the Analyser to the web address where your image is hosted.
You’ve got to upload the image to a photo-sharing site before you can run an analysis. My photos are on the free Picasa site provided by Google, and I simply copied the photo’s web address and ran the analysis. It quick, easy, and free.
Can you use the resulting analysis as evidence? That’s doubtful. In fact, you’ll have a tough time being certain that the photo has been modified. However, the free service does give you a sense of whether you might want to consult an expert to provide testimony.
