What Website Content Draws Visitors?

What should you write about on your website?

What content will generate visitors for your blog or site?

You don’t really need to ask that question. You already know the answer. The answer is in your office sitting across from you. Or it’s on your phone. Or it’s in your e-mail. Or it’s at that seminar you’re teaching tonight.

The answer comes in the form of a question. It’s like Jeopardy, but different.

Write About What Your Clients Need to Know

You should write about the things your clients and prospective clients are asking you.

  • “How much child support will I get?”
  • “When will I get to see my kids?”
  • “How much is this going to cost?”

Your clients are giving you a steady stream of writing ideas. It’s hard to imagine that you’ll ever have a shortage of writing prompts once you tune into this endless supply of questions.

  • Go back through your client e-mails. Look at what they’re asking and start a list.
  • Think back to your most recent initial consultations. What were you asked? Add it to the list.
  • Do the same for that seminar you taught last month. What did the attendees ask? Now you’ve got more questions for your list.
  • How about what people often ask you during cocktail parties?
  • What do other parents at kids’ activities ask you?

You’re constantly fielding questions.

Take your list of questions and use it as an endless stream of writing prompts. That’s the material you need on your site. That’s what your visitors are seeking. You’ll never find yourself short of ideas if you keep recording the questions you get all day.
